Here’s a story of longevity in the residential real estate industry - this year marks two decades of Mercedes Homes in the marketplace and there are over 24,000 homeowners with a company product.
“It is very rewarding to be building so many homes in today’s market,” said
Cora Johnston, president of Mercedes Homes’ Jacksonville division. “In our first year, we built 35 homes. Since that time, we have greatly expanded our operations while building outstanding homes in only the finest communities.
“We look forward to another 20 years in the industry.”
Mercedes Homes was named by founder Howard Buescher after his wife, Mercedes. Today, Mercedes Homes builds in Florida, Texas and North and South Carolina.
Headquartered in Melbourne, Mercedes Homes has grown and within the first 10 years in operation had established eight divisions: Volusia, Treasure Coast, Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa; and Dallas and Fort Worth.
Spanning the second half of Mercedes Homes growth, the builder opened four more divisions - the Southwest Florida and Howard Homes divisions in Florida; Charlotte and Vintage Custom Homes in Texas.
In 1992, Mercedes Homes opened its Jacksonville division and Mercedes Homes Jacksonville is building in 17 local communities.
“We are very proud of the dedication and great effort put forth by our Jacksonville division,” said Donna Sadowski, vice president of sales for Mercedes Homes Jacksonville. “Each year outshines the last, thanks to a phenomenal team that continually strives for success. This success, however, couldn’t be possible if not for Mercedes Homes’ architecturally distinct and design-rich product. Ours are homes you can believe in, and the overwhelming response from homebuyers is proof positive.”
According to Professional Builder magazine’s 2004 “Giant 400” listing, Mercedes Homes is ranked the 28th largest builder by closings in the United States. In 2003, in its “Builder 100” edition, Builder Magazine named Mercedes Homes the 20th largest builder by closings and gross revenue in the United States. And, Top Rank Florida Magazine named the homebuilder the seventh largest Florida construction firm in 2001.
