As the legal system undergoes the evolutionary changes that it must, one area of that process has seemed to evolve at a somewhat faster pace than others. This is the field of demonstrative aids. Simply stated, exhibits to show at mediation or trial to help explain more clearly what has happened and how this happened.
When The Presentation Group first opened its doors in Jacksonville over 10 years ago, there was a definite void in both the presentation of and use of demonstrative materials. Most exhibits were simple black and white enlargements of documents related to the case. Medical related exhibits were seldom used, had to be ordered from such places as South Florida or Atlanta and were usually generic in nature or quite expensive. The Presentation Group has helped to take this field to another level.
In having a central primary facility in Orlando and establishing field offices such as in Jacksonville, The Presentation Group has been able to provide quality, case specific exhibits in a timely manner. By having this type of organization, field representatives can meet personally with the attorney to help determine what might work best in each individual case. Once material is collected, it will go to a talented and experienced staff of graphic artists and degreed medical illustrators for completion. This provides for top quality, personalized exhibits delivered on time and at a reasonable cost.
The Presentation Group realized at an early date that the Sanction II presentation was the next wave in demonstrative aids and quickly became authorized by the developer to prepare cases and actually place a technician in the court room to assist in the presentation.
This new area of digital presentation has proven extremely effective in helping to organize and display exhibits in complex cases involving all areas of law.
Joe Snead and Naomi Williams are our local representatives of The Presentation Group. Together, they have spent several years working with lawyers in the Jacksonville area. While the focus has been on such areas as personal injury and defense, commercial, construction and maritime cases, Joe, Naomi and their support staff have experience in almost all types of litigation. Snead added, “By having eight offices spread across the Southeast, we can often bring new ideas to the local litigation community. For example, something that works well in Tampa, Texas or the Carolinas might be easily adapted to be very effective in Jacksonville. These offices are often very helpful when a case involves travel to another town or state.”
When asked about competition, Snead replied, “Sure, there are a few, but most should stick with their primary product line. If the case is good enough to require exhibits and the cost in comparable, why go to someone who makes exhibits as a sideline? Why go to the hardware store to buy golf clubs?”
The Jacksonville Bar Association often looks to local legal related businesses to provide support to the Association’s efforts of providing continuing education to our members, as well as in the preparation of many other Bar activities. The Presentation Group is always the first in line to provide assistance. Whether we need an LCD projector, signs for our golf tournament or technical assistance, Joe and Naomi always come to our rescue with a smile and a helping hand.
They have been good friends and supporters of your Jacksonville Bar Association. Their continued support and generosity are greatly appreciated. Give The Presentation Group for your next exhibit needs and see why The Bar finds them invaluable.
