Five months ago, Synovus Bank of Jacksonville announced its formation, marking the first time one of Synovus Financial Corp.’s 40 different banks adopted the holding company’s name. It was a significant event considering that Synovus Financial started in 1888.

They have been recognized is as a leader in the industry. In 2004 they were named “One of America’s Most Admired Companies” in Fortune Magazine in the Consumer Credit category and they were also listed as No. 20 for “The 100 Best Companies to Work For.”

The Georgia-based holding company always bought community banks and kept the names. It offered wealth management services such as trust departments and mortgaging under the community bank’s brand name.

Synovus Mortgage Corp., formed in April 1994, is celebrating 10 years of growth. They are represented by 52 offices in 6 states including: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The Jacksonville Branch is managed by Karen Self. The loan officers are Rich Corrao, Dusty McDonough, Sally Norcliffe, Al Thomas, and Nancy Woods. Jean Cooper and Sarah Richard are Senior Processors and Toya LaBostrie is the Administrative Coordinator.
