• The Police and Fire Pension Fund board is warning its members to lookout for a stock scam. It begins with a message on your answering machine or voice mail that sounds like a secret stock tip left by accident. The idea is to create buzz around certain stocks, driving up the price.

• Local law firms Fowler White Boggs & Banker and Kubicki Draper are two of several firms statewide being honored for their participation in the the annual fund raising drive for the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.

• The mural that used to be in baggage claim at JIA has been in storage for well over a year, but that’s changed. Half of it has been rehung on the wall of the north end of the ticket counter and the other half will go back up on the south end over the next several weeks.

• The T-U is shooting its annual Fall Fashion Section this week and chose the airport as the site. A dozen models have been around the airport Tuesday, Wednesday and today for the shoot.

• City Council member Jerry Holland has drafted a bill urging the City to design its new Animal Care and Control Facility to withstand hurricanes and other natural disasters. Holland also said the facility should able to double as a temporary refuge for the pets of persons who have been evacuated from their homes.

• The Longineu Parsons Ensemble is scheduled to perform Saturday from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at Eclate Jazz Club.

• The Florida Public Relations Association will hold its monthly meeting today at the Hilton, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Fourteen new officers will be installed on the board of directors. Four of those positions are new to the Jacksonville chapter. Admission is $20 for FPRA members and $25 for future members and walk-ins.

• The inaugural issue of a new local magazine called Jacksonville Luxury Living hit the shelves this week. Publisher Kathryn Gray-Radcliff said the magazine “is an affluent upscale lifestyle publication catering to an affluent younger demographic.”
