Cornerstone includes Super Bowl review

The Super Bowl has ended but its impact continues, and two of the key local men in the game will be on the program Thursday, February 24 as the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce holds its first quarterly Cornerstone luncheon.

Jaguars co-owner Wayne Weaver and Host Committee co-chair Tom Petway of Zurich Insurance will be on the program at the Adam’s Mark to review the game’s impact on the business community.

The main speaker will be Mark Grier, the chief financial officer of Prudential Financial.

The luncheon starts at noon with registration beginning at 11:30.

Also on the program is presentation of a Chairman’s Award to a local company for its civic and business contributions to the region.

Tickets are $35 for Cornerstone investors, $50 for Chamber members; and $65 for non-members. Corporate tables are $350 for Cornerstone investors;, $500 for Chamber members and $650 for non-members.

Grier, a member of Prudential Financial’s Office of the Chairman, is charged with the execution of Prudential’s global strategy to “Grow and Protect” clients’ wealth. In addition, he is responsible for managing Investor Relations, Finance, Corporate Actuarial, Asset Liability & Risk Management and External Affairs.

He assumed his current post in August 2002.

Grier joined Prudential as CFO in May 1995. His responsibilities were to oversee the treasury, the comptroller’s office, tax and business line CFO functions within Prudential.

Before joining Prudential, Grier was co-head of Chase Global Markets and an Executive Vice President of The Chase Manhattan Bank. In 1987, he was named Individual Banking Financial Management executive for The Chase Manhattan Corporation’s Retail Banking businesses.

In 1983, Grier served as senior vice president of Lincoln First Bank, N. A., a forerunner of Chase Lincoln First Bank, N.A. He also served as Global Risk Management executive and treasurer of the bank and its parent company, Lincoln First Banks, Inc.

In 1981, Grier became the bank’s economic and financial policy manager and continued in these positions after The Chase Manhattan Corporation acquired Lincoln First in July 1984. Grier began his career at Lincoln First in 1978 as an economic analyst.

The Cornerstone Regional Development Partnership is made up of 300 top private sector investor corporate entities in the Jacksonville area.
