Adam Looney is the owner, operator and CEO of Superior IT Solutions. The Arlington company was started in 1999 by Looney and his partner, Dewey Straughn.
What do you do?
“I run the daily operations and meet with clients. Mostly sales and technician work.”
What does the company do?
“The company is an information technology service company. We do networking, IT outsourcing, computer sales, web design, phone systems, and web hosting. We are your complete computer solutions provider. We cater to small to medium businesses and develop software written for company needs.”
How did you get involved with the company?
“The company was started in 1999 by me and my partner. We got a contract through the U.S. Postal Service with information and help desk work in the Jacksonville area for all their local offices.”
What did you do prior to working for the company?
“I worked for another information technology company as an intern. I had a lot of training there and received my Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification and helped with projects.”
What do you like best about your job?
“Working with clients, helping them with their needs and making sure we put in the proper solutions for their needs. I make sure I keep their costs down as much as possible and learn new technology.”
Did you have any special training?
Microsoft certified courses and self-education.
What is most challenging about your job?
“There are always challenges in a business. One of our challenges is marketing, how to get your ideas and knowledge out to Jacksonville companies. We keep up with all the newest technologies and implement it for our clients.”
What organizations use your company?
“Service-oriented companies like plumbers and electricians, animal hospitals and doctor’s offices.”
What are your goals for the future?
“To increase our customer base. Currently we have six employees and we’re looking to get up to between 10-15 employees. We want to increase customers by referrals and word of mouth.”
What gave you the idea to start this company?
“Dewey and I got together and we had similar knowledge. I was real good with software server design and network strategies and he was good with hardware and different technologies. We combined our knowledge and designed our own way of setting up a business and our own solution for IT with a server.”

Married for two years and has a two-year-old daughter. His family lives in Jacksonville and he has a sister.
Hobbies
Watching movies and spending time with his family. Likes to play video games.
