• What’s the name of the large bronze owl that’s going to be installed in front of the new Main Library? It’s “Wisdom” and the 20-foot sculpture will be unveiled Monday.
• The Jacksonville Film Festival won’t happen until May but fundraising for the event is already underway. Legislation making its way through the City Council is asking for a withdrawal of more than $14,000 from a special reserve account. That money will help cover facility and film rentals and production costs.
• Correction: In a recent photo we credited Martha Barrett as the Duval County School Board Chair. Barrett still serves on the board, but Nancy Broner took over as chair earlier this year.
• The Super Bowl might be over but the City’s “Where Florida Begins” branding campaign goes on. The Super Bowl Host Committee is adding the slogan to follow-up cards that will be sent out to the national media.
• Baseball season is almost here but not all is well with the Suns — bossman Peter Bragan Sr. is in Baptist after taking a fall. The 81-year-old is doing well and hopes to be ready for the season opener next month.
• Assuming the City’s agreement with Landmar to develop the Shipyards gets JEDC approval today, the City Council will set its timetable to consider it. The mayor’s office told the Council members to take its time to fully evaluate the deal, but not too much time. The City’s deadline to give an answer on the deal is April 30, the Council members were reminded.
• In a press conference today outside the fire tower on Stockton Street, at-large City Council candidate Ronnie Fussell will announce he has secured endorsements from Tim Carter, Ray Pringle, John Draper and R.J. Taylor, the four candidates he bested in the Feb. 15 primary election. An election between Fussell and Democrat opponent Eric Smith will be held on March 29.
• Council President Elaine Brown purchased 19 of the DTW for Literacy pins and handed them out to council members at the end of Tuesday night’s meeting.
• A suspicious package was found at the Bank of America building at lunchtime Wednesday. During a security sweep, a guard noticed the package and notified the JSO, which then contacted the bomb squad. The main lobby and lower level including the Laura Street Cafe were evacuated for about an hour while bomb squad officers investigated. It turns out that the package was a briefcase that contained magazines and an iron.
