The St. Johns Builders Council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association announced the winners of the 2005 Parade of Homes at a banquet last month. The Parade of Homes was Sept. 3-11.
The SJBC Parade featured 21 homes constructed by various area builders.
“The homes and condos were outstanding and represented the high quality workmanship builders in this area are known for,” said Leona Brown, administrator for the St. Johns Builders Council. “Builders take pride in their product, and it truly showed with the scores given to each home by the panel of judges.”
McGarvey, Doerer Custom Homes was the big winner in the Parade, taking the Pick of the Parade honor with its Sandpiper model in Sea Colony, nestled in natural dunes and preserves of Sea Colony in St. Augustine Beach. The home is equipped with extensive moldings, Peachtree double-hung tilt windows, solid two-panel doors and a Michael Graves plumbing package.
The Sandpiper also took top honors in Category 6 of the competition. Category 6 included homes priced from $701,000 to $750,000. The Sandpiper listed at $750,000.
John Doerer Construction was the winner in Category 7 — $1 million-plus — as well, with the Eagle’s Nest at 927 Ocean Palm Way in Sea Colony.
KB Home and Richmond American Homes were double winners in the SJBC Parade competition.
The KB Home Briarwood entry in Samara Lakes won in Category 1, $101,000 to $150,000, and the KB Home Model 1604, also in Samara Lakes, won in Category 2, $251,000 to $300,000.
Richmond American Homes won in Category 3 with its Kingsbury model, $301,000-$350,000. The Richmond American Augustine model captured Category 5, $601,000 to $651,000.
Mercedes Homes won Category 4, $401,000 to $451,00; with the Olivia Cay II in Seagrove.
Condominium winners were the Capri by Eastwood of St. Augustine, which won the Best in Category Condominium less than 2,000 square feet, and the Meditierra by Standard Pacific Homes won the Best in Category Condominium more than 2,000 square feet.
