University Of Florida Levin College of Law

United States Sen. Mel Martinez spoke at the school’s Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom on Friday. Martinez talked about a variety of things including foreign policy, international law and other issues.

Also at UF, the Criminal Law Association will host State Attorney Billy Cervone Wednesday. And the 2005 faculty report is out. The 24-page document can be found on the law school’s Web site.

Florida State University College of Law

Several College of Law alumni recently surprised Dean Don Weidner at the annual Florida Bar meeting when they announced the creation of the Alumni Centennial Chair. The Chair — which is endowed in excess of $1 million — was established to honor Weidner for his years of service to the school.

University of Georgia School of Law

The Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law will be convening a symposium on “The Limits of International Law” by Jack L. Goldsmith and Eric Posner (Oxford University Press). The event will bring the internationally prominent authors and seven other top scholars to the law school to consider the new relevance of international law on Friday and Saturday.

University of Miami School of Law

The University of Miami School of Law’s Center for Ethics and Public Service will honor longtime Dean of Students Jeannette F. Hausler, with the “Lawyers in Leadership Award” Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Alma Jennings Foundation Student Lounge. “There is no person more deserving of this award than Dean Hausler,” said School of Law Dean Dennis O. Lynch. “She is adored by students and her law school colleagues. She has had an exceptional career and has made her mark on the school in more ways than words can describe.”

Florida Coastal School of Law

Florida Coastal is hosting its annual Environmental Summit and CLE course on Nov. 4. The summit will be held at Jacksonville University’s Davis School of Business from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and has been approved by the Florida Bar for eight CLE credits. Stetson University College of Law

Last weekend, Stetson was supposed to host the inaugural Intellectual Property Law Society Art Show and Fundraiser but the event was postponed due to the uncertainty of Hurricane Wilma’s path. Originally scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m., the event has been moved to Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall on Stetson’s Gulfport campus.
