• Governor-elect Charlie Crist has tabbed local lobbyist and fellow attorney Marty Fiorentino to serve as the finance chair of the Crist inauguration committee. Fiorentino is president of Fiorentino & Hewett and a member of the Jacksonville Port Authority’s board of directors. Crist will be sworn in Jan. 2 and this year’s theme is “Celebrating the People of Florida” and will feature several events open to the public.

• Jacksonville Film Events, formerly known as the Jacksonville Film Festival, will screen the documentary “Hand of God” at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The Atlantic Theatre screening costs $10 and features a question-and-answer session with filmmaker Joe Cultrera.

• Clarification. In a story last week about the Annie Lytle School, we said the City Development Company had an option on the property in 2003. According to CDC Principal Lynn Fournier, the company did not begin operating until 2004, during which it obtained an option on the old school.

• The Florida Department of Transportation recently opened a new southbound off-ramp from I-95 to Forest Street. The off-ramp provides a new access point for motorists going to Downtown and the Riverside/Five Points area.

• The last 11 Otis Smith Foundation’s Big Cats for Kids will be placed around town over the next couple of weeks. Right now, there are 42 and many are Downtown.
