Judi Seay has been a Realtor with Century 21 John T. Ferreira and Son’s Yulee office since 2004.
BEFORE THERE?
She worked for Select Brokers in Braselton, Ga. since 1996.
BEFORE REAL ESTATE?
Seay was a courier for FedEx for 14 years.
WHAT MADE HER GO INTO REAL ESTATE?
“I’ve always loved looking at houses.”
HOW DOES YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE HELP YOU NOW?
“Geographically, it helped me tremendously. If you wanted to go look at a house, I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I did know the area. So I didn’t get lost.”
AREA SHE COVERS?
Yulee, Callahan and Hilliard.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE YULEE MARKET?
“It’s slow right now. There is a lot of development in the area right now. We have a lot of inventory, but it is not moving as fast as it did when it was a seller’s market.”
WHAT ARE YOU DOING DIFFERENT IN THIS BUYER’S MARKET TO GET BUSINESS?
Seay said she is going out and knocking on doors and introducing herself. “I’m doing that to see if someone is out there that wants to sell, thought about maybe downsizing or buying something different.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT REAL ESTATE?
“I enjoy meeting the people and looking at different homes. From pricing the homes in my neighborhood, I’ve found that for the same price, I could have bought in the country club if that was my niche. It’s funny to find out that people don’t know that you don’t have to live in a regular neighborhood. If you want to live at the country club, you can and afford it. That’s a good thing to find out.”
BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED FROM A CO-WORKER?
“Hang in there.”
ADVICE FOR A NEW AGENT?
“Listen. Learn to listen. Listen to what is being told to you. If you don’t listen you can’t sell a thing. The minute you open your mouth, they are gone. If you are new and don’t know what you are talking about, it shows. Listen to what they want. If you are not listening and talking trying to sell them something, then you are not hearing what they want. Listening is the key.”
PET PEEVES?
People who waste her time.
LESSONS LEARNED?
“Patience and humility.”
