• Every time a baby is born, Baptist Medical Center Downtown broadcasts a 30-second portion of the Brahm’s Lullaby over the public address system. Not much of a delay, either — the nurses on the Labor & Delivery floor enter a code on the telephone that cues the music to play hospitalwide.

• Lighthouse Grille in Jacksonville Beach on the Intracoastal just south of the bridge closed for good after Friday night’s dinner crowd. A developer is going to put condos on the property.

• The admin building at Craig Airport may be getting a long-overdue facelift and expansion. Council is considering an ordinance that would allocate $565,500 for work on the building.

• Thanks to a leak in the roof, there’s significant water damage to the interior of the Snyder Memorial Methodist Church and Council members Elaine Brown and Gwen Yates would like it addressed as soon as possible. The City took ownership of the building in 2004 when the St. Johns River City band defaulted on a letter of credit from the City.

• Pavelka Properties is working with the City on a 50-year lease of a City-owned lot at the corner of Market and Forsyth streets. If approved by Council, Pavelka will build a lot with at least 34 spaces that will support the company’s Churchwell Lofts condominium project. The spaces will lease for $80 a month.

• The zoo will be getting a little over $2 million worth of landscaping soon. The funds are from the Tree Protection and Related Expenses Trust Fund and will go towards trees and landscaping for the new Monsoon Asia exhibit at the zoo.

• Another extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the Police and Fire Pension Fund regarding the Laura Trio. The original MOU was set to expire Dec. 31, but was extended to March 1. However, after analyzing the financial issues surrounding the project, both the City and the Fund would like to extended that deadline to May 1.

• Jacksonville isn’t the only Florida town with adult entertainment issues. The residents of Palm Coast are battling its only adult venue — Club Liquid, an all-nude club that was originally proposed as a sports bar.

• Speaking of the local bikini club industry, Vixen’s Showbar in Neptune Beach has closed.

• Looks like Jacksonville Day will happen during the upcoming legislative session. There’s a meeting set for Friday to discuss the agenda.
