G. Matthew Wilson, broker associate/manager at Coquina Real Estate and Construction in Palm Coast, has been elected District 1 vice president of the Florida Association of Realtors. A member of the Flagler County Association of Realtors, Wilson will serve his fellow professionals in District 1, which encompasses Flagler, Putnam, Alachua, St. Johns, Clay, Bradford, Union, Baker, Hamilton, Suwannee, Columbia, Duval and Nassau counties.

He succeeds Selby Kaiser of the Prudential Network Realty.

“Our biggest challenge is handling the region’s phenomenal growth,” he says. “Affordable housing is another key issue. Homeowners have seen incredible appreciation, making it very difficult for new buyers to find homes at affordable prices.”

Active in residential and commercial brokerage, as well as new construction, Wilson is a twice former president of the Flagler County association, its 2000 Realtor of the Year and a former FAR director. He is a member of Flagler County 2020, a broad-based community coalition, and a board member of the Flagler Beach Historical Museum. He also is a licensed real estate instructor.

Wilson brings extensive financial experience to his role as FAR district vice president. “My background is investment banking, which has helped me understand the issues facing many buyers today,” he says. “My personal practice includes many investors as well.”

As a FAR vice president, Wilson will focus on Realtor education, training and involvement in vital housing-related issues in the region.
