Former Columbia County Assistant State Attorney George R. “Bob” Dekle began work as director of UF”s Criminal Law Clinic-Prosecution earlier this month. Meshon Rawls, who worked in the Eighth Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender, will be director of the Gator TeamChild program upon the retirement of current director Claudia Wright.
Florida Coastal School of Law
It has been 10 years since Florida Coastal School of Law joined the other Florida law schools, and they’ll be celebrating throughout 2006. The details are still being worked out, but FCSL will kick off the anniversary festivities in February.

The National Clearinghouse for Science Technology and the Office of International Programs at Stetson University College of Law presented a program titled “The Impact of DNA Evidence in Addressing Human Rights in the Philippines and Other Uses of DNA Worldwide,” this week in Stetson’s Great Hall. The program featured Dr. Maria Corzaon A. De Ungria, head of the DNA Analysis Laboratory in the Natural Science Research Institute at the University of Philippines, and Chris Asplen, a member of Smith Alling Lane and former executive director of the U.S. Attorney General’s National Commission on the Future of DNA Evidence.

John Bruton, European Union ambassador to the U.S. will give a lecture Tuesday on “The European Union Today: Consequences of the Constitutional impasses and relation with the United States” at the UM School of Law. Also, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer will deliver the Cole Lecture at the University of Miami School of Law Thursday. The Robert B. Cole Lecture Series was established in 1985 and provides a forum for faculty, students and practicing attorneys to hear distinguished jurists and public figures share their thinking on important legal and international matters.
