• What’s up with the Shipyards project? We may find out soon as final plans are being discussed now and they may be ready to reveal the future next month.

• Our heaviest celeb is sports talk radio host David Lamm (330 pounds-plus) and he’s lost 30 pounds on his most current diet. He and Mayor John Peyton were discussing it earlier this week and Peyton asked how much he wanted to lose. Lamm looked the diminutive mayor over and said, “About as much as you.” That would be 140 pounds or so.

• The teams here for the basketball tournament held open practices Wednesday and the Gators drew as big a crowd as any with a couple thousand. Lots of folks didn’t want their pictures taken, though (apparently many employers had been misled as to their whereabouts). One person was walking around with a sign wanting two tickets. He really didn’t want his picture taken, saying the boss didn’t know he was at the Arena.

• If you need office space and you’re worried about lunch: a law firm that describes itself as, “near Hooters on San Jose,” is offering office space for rent. According to the ad, the office is fully furnished and equipped and includes access to a conference room, phones, Internet, copier and computer system – not to mention Hooters.

• This year’s EDDY Awards are set for April 18 at the Hyatt. It’s the 15th awards and they honor the top teachers in Duval County. The EDDY’s are hosted by the Alliance for World Class Education and the event is black tie optional.

• Correction. In a story last Thursday, we said new Jacksonville Suns radio announcer J.P. Shadrick got his start in radio at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Shadrick both graduated from the University of Alabama and started his radio career at ‘Bama.

• There may be six basketball games at the Arena this week, but there won’t be one beer for sale. NCAA rules.

• The city signs around Alltel Stadium need to be updated. Several still give directions to the Coliseum and Wolfson Park.

• Lifestyles Realtors has opened new offices in Avondale and Springfield. Michele Gallagher will manage both.
