The Hilton’s Jacksonville Princess yacht was at maximum capacity for NetWorth’s cruise on the St. Johns.
NetWorth is an organization that aspires to get people business and referrals, according to Terrell Holman, co-executive director.
“We’re not here to take the place of the Chamber of Commerce and we don’t want to take the place of Business Networking International groups,” he said.
NetWorth’s goal to network with proactive individuals and companies, build each other’s business by quality referrals, train individuals to network effortlessly, all while having “fun,” and encourages relationships that follow their philosophy of “Know Me, Like Me, Trust Me.”
The group was founded by Holman and Kathy Timmons in March 2005, who felt that networking was somewhat of a challenge in certain situations.
“We wanted to create an atmosphere for people to feel more comfortable, were they can have fun and at the same time get some work done,” said Timmons.
The group gives back as well.
During the St. Patrick’s Day cruise, nearly $1,000 was raised for local charities.
While underway on the St. Johns River, the group’s first annual lip sync contest commenced featuring a Tina Turner look alike and the crew from Grease. First place went to the Village People, or at least those acting like them. Dave Armentrout, Greg Hancock and Barry Timmons, representing Centex Homes, won $300 for their rendition of “YMCA.” They donated the money back to charity.
Camp I Am Special will receive $625 from NetWorth and the Otis Smith Foundation will receive $277.
NetWorth meets for lunch on the first Tuesday of every month at the Carrabbas restaurant located at 9A & Baymeadows. They encourage bringing lots of business cards. “You can also bring a door prize to promote your business,” they say. The cost is $16, which includes lunch and begins at 11:30 a.m. The group’s Web-site is www.networthjax.com.
