A big crowd filled a meeting room at the Omni Thursday for the first meeting of the 2006-07 Jacksonville Bar Association where Florida Bar President Hank Coxe was the guest speaker. Part of that crowd included a sizable contingent from the State Attorney’s Office from the early 1970s. Coxe, a trial lawyer with the law firm of Bedell Dittmar DeVault Pillans & Coxe, got his start at the State Attorney’s Office in 1973. Jake Schickel (far left) said not everyone from the office at the time could attend Thursday and a few have moved away. However, he added, it’s remarkable how many are still in the area and went on to become judges and well-known attorneys. Pictured with Schickel (from left) are: Circuit Judge Chuck Arnold, Circuit Judge Dave Wiggins, George Bateh, Larry Pritchard, former State Attorney and Mayor Ed Austin, Circuit Judge Fred Tygart, Coxe, David Robbins, County Judge Brent Shore, State Attorney Harry Shorstein, Bob Willis and Circuit Judge Aaron Bowden.
