Life is a sacred journey meant to be enjoyed, United States Rep. Ander Crenshaw told members of the Christian Legal Society Friday at the group’s monthly luncheon at the University Club.
As the meeting’s guest speaker, Crenshaw shared stories about his Christian faith and credited it for instilling values in him that have made him successful throughout his career.
Crenshaw currently represents Florida’s Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House and said his faith has played a role throughout his entire life from the time he was in college to now.
“Often times we rush through things and go here and go there to meet him and meet her but when don’t take the time to really stop and enjoy each other’s company,” he said.
“That’s what this journey is about: enjoying things and appreciating what and who you come across.”
A third-generation resident of Northeast Florida, Crenshaw was born and raised in Jacksonville where he attended Robert E. Lee High School. He later attended the University of Georgia on a basketball scholarship, and then received his law degree from the University of Florida.
Crenshaw also recalled instances while in college when his faith was called upon to guide him and help him along his “journey,” as well as times it was helpful as a father of two daughters and now one granddaughter.
“Knowing and truly understanding God makes a difference in your life and it’s been a foundation I’ve been building upon throughout the entire length of mine.”
