Ron Stephan, the executive vice president of the Northeast Florida Multiple Listing Service, gave about 150 attendees of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors Ponte Vedra Council an overview of MLS Advantage at the council’s first quarterly meeting held at the Sawgrass Beach Club.

The MLS Advantage is a system which gives brokers and Realtors access to their private listing data.

Stephan discussed the benefits and pitfalls of the system and explained that in the end it will be a very useful tool for Realtors in Northeast Florida.

“It is a good product and a good service,” said Stephan. “We are working with the Florida Association of Realtors as fast as we can to implement it.”

Stephan said new things they have learned is that the system will be updated twice a day Monday through Friday.

That isn’t helpful if you take a listing on Saturday or late Friday but Stephan said NEFMLS is working with FAR to see if there is a way to implement a weekend update as well.

“There are 60 MLS systems in Florida,” said Stephan. “Not all of those 60 will come on board, but I hope all of the Northeast Florida boards will.”

The Amelia Island/Nassau County Association of Realtors has agreed to participate in the MLS Advantage program, but the St. Augustine Board of Realtors is still in the decision making process.
