• Speaking of the ACC Championship and Jacksonville, a member of the ACC Championship Committee at Friday’s luncheon said it is likely the River City may no longer host the game, at least solely. He said rumor was that an announcement would have been made before Saturday’s game if the event was to stay in Jacksonville. However, if no announcement was made, it means the event would likely move to either Tampa or Charlotte or possibly rotate among the three cities.
• Four members of the Coffman, Coleman, Andrews & Grogan law firm were recently named to the 25th edition of “The Best Lawyers in America.” in the labor and employment category. They are Patrick Coleman, William Andrews, Michael Grogan and Eric Holshouser.
• The Christian Legal Society’s monthly luncheon is Dec. 14 at the University Club. A representative from the City Rescue Mission’s Life Builder program is the guest speaker. The luncheon is from noon-1:15 and all are welcome. For more, contact Jane Arnold at 388-4567.
• It’s no secret that mayor’s office receptionist Alice Newman is an avid bowler, but Thursday night was a personal best. Newman rolled nine strikes in a row and in the 10th frame left one pin standing on her first roll. She ended up with a career-high of 279.
• Speaking of the mayor’s office, receptionist Tenisha Williams’ last day was Wednesday. She has moved to Atlanta.
• Correction. The NFL’s YET Boys & Girls Club donated $10,000 to three local Boys & Girls Clubs, not $100,000 as we said in a Friday City Note.
