• The Northeast Florida Paralegal Association will hold it January luncheon on the 10th at the River Club. Spohrer & Dodd attorney Helen Spohrer is the guest speaker. It’s $20 for members and $25 for non-members. For more, call Nancy O’Grady at 309-6500.

• A correction to a City Note last Monday that incorrectly identified an attorney who joined the law firm of A. Hamilton Cooke and Joseph Clay Meux Jr. The associate’s name is Melissa Coll.

• Smith Hulsey & Busey is the top-ranked commercial litigation firm in Jacksonville, according to the 2008 edition of Best Lawyers in America released this month. The firm, headquartered in Jacksonville since 1936, has three attorneys listed in the commercial litigation category of Best Lawyers in America, the most for any Jacksonville firm. In total, eight lawyers with the firm are listed in the legal guide, the most overall for any Jacksonville firm. In all, 126 Jacksonville lawyers with 60 different law firms were included in the legal guide. Smith Hulsey & Busey’s recognized lawyers include: Steve Busey, chairman of the firm, in Bet-the-Company Litigation, Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation (Busey has been listed in Best Lawyers for more than 16 years); William Kuntz in Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Litigation; Richard Lewis Jr. in Health Care; James Post in Commercial Litigation and Bankruptcy; E. Lanny Russell in Commercial Litigation; Tim Sleeth in Environmental; John Thrasher in Government Relations; and Harry Wilson III in Real Estate.

• According to Downtown Vision, Inc. the Downtown Historic Church Tour was attended by over 700 people. The Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition received 20 percent of the ticket sales from the tour.
