Mitchell has been a Realtor with Future Realty in Orange Park since May 2007. She works out of her home in Yulee.
BEFORE THERE?
She was with Palm III Realty for seven months.
BEFORE REAL ESTATE?
Mitchell was the owner/operator of a women’s retail clothing store, Miz L’s Ladies Fashions. She owned and operated it for four years in Yulee before moving it to the Jacksonville Landing for two years as Infinity Fashions.
WHAT MADE HER GO INTO REAL ESTATE?
“I had a real estate investment deal that went bad. I wanted to understand the industry for myself and be able to help other people not fall into the same trap.”
HOW DOES YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE HELP YOU NOW?
“From the previous experience I learned to try and get as much information as possible about an assignor and the property.”
HOW DID OWNING A BUSINESS HELP YOU?
“The experience of owning the store helped in real estate because the retail industry is a people-oriented market and in that market I was able to develop customer service skills added with compassion, both of which I continue to use in real estate. Owing my own business allowed me to give individualized service to each of my customers which is an essential requirement in the real estate market.”
AREA SHE COVERS?
Fernandina Beach, Yulee and Jacksonville.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN THOSE AREAS?
“Lots of new construction and subdivisions are still going on. Resales are still soft with surplus inventory and foreclosures are increasing.”
WHAT ARE YOU DOING DIFFERENT IN THIS BUYER’S MARKET TO GET BUSINESS?
Mitchell said she has increased her Internet activity, establishing a presence on the Web. “I did not have a Web Site and now I do because NAR statistics reveal that 92 percent of buyers search the Web first.”
WEBSITE?
www.yourfuturekeys.com
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT REAL ESTATE?
“There are two scenarios in real estate that I like and find rewarding. One is helping people in pre-foreclosure getting their house sold, so they can get on with their lives with the least amount of negative impact. The other scenario is getting first-time homebuyer’s a house.”
BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED FROM A CO-WORKER?
“Real Estate is a numbers game, so every ‘No’ puts you closer to the next ‘Yes’.”
ADVICE FOR A NEW AGENT?
“Do all you can upfront to establish a good working relationship with other Realtors, regardless of your position list/buyers agent.”
PET PEEVE?
“My pet peeve in real estate is when prospects make an appointment, confirm the appointment and still don’t show up or call.”
COLLEGE?
Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary. She is an elder at her church, Kingdom Life Ministries International. She has spoken at many different churches in and out of state, facilities that provide women’s services and at conferences.
