• U.S. Judge William G. Young will deliver the keynote address during the Judicial Luncheon June 28 at The Florida Bar Annual Convention in Orlando. Young gained national attention for defending the American way of life when sentencing “shoe bomber” Richard Reid. “Here, in this society, the very winds carry freedom,” Young told Reid. “They carry it everywhere from sea to shining sea.” Young sits on the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts.
• Construction and real estate law attorney Arnold Tritt Jr. has resigned from the City’s Planning Commission effective this past Tuesday. In his letter, Tritt said he felt the Planning Commission is “not the highest and best use of my time and skill set.”
• Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is set to kick off its annual “10-Four: Injustice is Over and Out” campaign. JALA Executive Director Michael Figgins sent out a letter urging area attorneys to get involved as part of their annual pro bono obligation.
