Well over 100 of Jacksonville’s top decision makers and law makers gathered Wednesday in the top floor of the JEA tower to thank City Council President Michael Corrigan and the other 18 Council members for their work over the past year.
The annual luncheon was hosted by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“We’ve been doing this for 15-plus years,” said Chamber President Wally Lee. “I have been in Jacksonville 18 years now and we started this one or two years after I came to the Chamber.”
Lee said the Chamber and Jacksonville’s elected officials enjoy a solid working relationship and getting together once a year gives the Chamber a chance to thank the Council personally.
“We believe we have a strong public/private partnership,” said Lee. “This is an opportunity to celebrate that partnership and recognize our City Council for their role in that.
“I think the City and the business community in Jacksonville have an excellent relationship, but like anything, you can always work to make it better. The mayor’s office and the City Council are constantly working together and that speaks well to the quality of leadership in Jacksonville.”
