The registration process has begun for the Florida Home Builders Association-sponsored Southeast Building Conference on July 11-15 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Registration is available in two ways: online at www.sebcshow.com or by downloading the two-page registration form available both at the SEBC web site and www.fhba.com.

The show is the largest regional building industry event in the South with over 1,000 exhibits of industry products and services and 65-plus educational programs, most of which provide continuing education credits for Florida contractors.

This year’s opening ceremonies have been moved to Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m. and feature Chris Gardner, who went from homelessness to Wall Street and is the inspiration of the blockbuster movie, “The Pursuit of Happyness.”

While most educational programs are covered under a single registration fee, with discounts for multiple members of the same firm, there are a number of special, fee-based courses offered on Wednesday, July 11.

Among those is the Leaders Advantage program sponsored by Countrywide Home Loans. This day-long event features keynote speaker Mark Zandi, the chief economist and cofounder of Moody’s Economy.com.

In his role at Moody’s Economy.com, Zandi directs the company’s research and consulting activities. Moody’s Economy.com is an independent subsidiary of the Moody’s Corporation and provides economic research and consulting services to businesses, governments and other institutions.

Leaders Advantage also features other speakers including Dr. Chuck Shinn of the Lee Evans Institute and mega-builder Ara Hovnanian, who will head a Builder Panel moderated by Ivy Zelman, who follows housing stocks for Credit Suisse First Boston.

The fee for Leaders Advantage is $300 for the first person from the firm and $200 for additional person. The program includes lunch and a networking reception.

The SEBC is also home for the Aurora Awards, the Excel Awards, the New Southern Home and the GreenTrends Conference, which will feature 35 exhibits of green building products and a number of green building educational programs.

FHBA members who are involved in the work of the state association can also go to the SEBC web site and see the schedule of FHBA meetings, including the Summer board meeting on Sunday, July 15, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rosen Centre Hotel.
