“Spirit” is a byword in the real estate and construction industries and Realty/Builder Connection is inaugurating the Spirit of the Industry Awards.
“We want to recognize those who provide the spirit that‘s needed to succeed,” said Jim Bailey, president of Bailey Publishing & Communications, the parent company of the newspaper. “Many associations have awards but they’re mostly internal.
“Realty/Builder Connection brings all parts of the industry together. We want our awards to reflect that.”
Nominations from anyone in the industry will be accepted and full details are on page 12.
The winners will be named in the January issue and presentations will be done twice: once at the winner’s office among their own staff and also at a reception for all winners.
The winners also will be highlighted in the February issue.
There will be seven categories with six reflecting the acronym SPIRIT:
Service, which Bailey said would go to “someone who goes above and beyond with their charitable contributions.”
Passion, to go to a person whose attitude toward their work includes “a passion that never fades.”
Integrity, to someone who “exemplifies strong morals and makes sound, honest decisions in all aspects of the business.”
Respect, for “putting in extra hours or going the extra mile to ensure that all parts of the business run smoother.”
Initiative, for a person who “steps up to the plate when challenges arrive and take on a leadership role to get problems resolved,” and
Teamwork, for “the one always willing to lend you a hand on the job site or in the office.”
The seventh is a “Spirit of the Industry Lifetime Achievement Award” to a person or company that combines all of the above traits.
