Rotary International’s District 6970 Governor Cecil Gibson addressed the Rotary Club of Jacksonville Monday afternoon about the importance of this year’s mission: “Rotary Shares.”

“I am asking each and every one of you to find your gifts and talents and share them with Rotary,” said Gibson who has been a member of the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville since January 1988. “It is a call for all of us to take what we have and share it with others.”

Also at Monday’s meeting, Linda Ann Bainbridge was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Her husband, Dr. William Bainbridge has been a recipient of the award in the past.

Gibson said the award represents the person’s commitment to funding the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Programs Fund. Linda Ann received a commemorative certificate, a Paul Harris Fellow pin and a medallion.

Other notes:

• Only 100 tickets out of the 1,100 are available for the 4th Annual Rotary Day with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The event is Dec. 9 when the Jaguars play the Carolina Panthers at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. “We are the only NFL city that has a day like this where money is generated for the Rotary Foundation,” said Gibson.

Gibson added that they will be raffling off two tickets to sit with Wayne and Delores Weaver in their Suite.

• The District Assembly meeting is March 29, 2008 at St. Johns River Community College.

• District 6970’s Annual Conference will be held April 18-19, 2008 at the Hyatt.

• There is no meeting next Monday, Oct. 8, because of Columbus Day. The next Rotary Club of Jacksonville meeting is Oct. 15. Ken Burns, author and producer, will be speaking.
