• The expansion of Hooters at the Landing will be done in about two weeks. Once completed, the outside section near the stage will be enclosed, there will be nine new tables (there are 32 now) and Hooters will have a full liquor license.

• Know someone who could use a power wheelchair? Wishes on Wheels makes them available to non-ambulatory senior citizens (65 years old and up) and permanently disabled persons of any age if they qualify. Usually there is no charge or out-of-pocket expense for the chair. The service includes shipping and delivery to the home by a technician who makes the final adjustments to fit the individual and show them how to use it and maintain it. • Sandra Ramsey, senior vice president of finance and treasurer of Acosta, Inc., is the president of the 2008 Leadership Jacksonville class. Ramsey, class of 2001, will help this year’s class of 56 locals that includes former Jaguars punter Bryan Barker, Clerk of the Court Jim Fuller, Ch. 4 General Manager and Vice President John Rafferty, and a handful of attorneys among others.

• Now that he defeated former City Council member Lad Daniels in last week’s special election for House Dist. 16, attorney Charles McBurney is seeking support for the Sept. 18 general election. In a letter sent to potential backers, McBurney apologizes for the letterhead, which has the words “Special Election! please vote Tuesday, August 28th!” crossed off.

• City Council Rules Committee Chair Jay Jabour has rescheduled the special meeting to discuss the proposed reorganization ordinance. It’s now next Friday at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers.

• Council Finance Chair Art Shad rescheduled Thursday’s budget hearing wrap up meeting for Monday at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers. According to his assistant, Shad wanted to give the chairs of the three subcommittees formed to look at the proposed new fees more time to gather information about the fees and how they will be implemented. Monday’s agenda also includes the JTA budget and the reorganization legislation.

• The Studio 1014 Dance Elite team in Neptune Beach is hosting a charity golf tournament to benefit Jacksonville’s Ronald McDonald House and the dance team. The tournament will be held at Queen’s Harbour Yacht & Country Club on Oct. 22. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Individual players may register for $125 and foursomes may play for $500. • Effective Monday, the Clerk of the Courts office at the beach will relocate from Jacksonville Beach to the Tradewinds Shopping Center in Neptune Beach.
