• “Nineteen,” the restaurant and lounge at the TPC Sawgrass, has been chosen by Wine Spectator magazine to receive the “Award of Excellence” for 2008 for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world. Located in the clubhouse, the restaurant’s wine cellar boasts 230 varieties of wine, a selection that changes with the seasons as well as the menu.

• The Jacksonville Economic Development Commission’s Sports & Entertainment division has announced the 2008 Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame Inductees. This year’s honorees from the University of Florida are wide receiver Willie Jackson and running back Fred Taylor (Jackson is a former Jaguar). The Georgia inductees are wide receiver Gene Washington and quarterback Eric Zeier. The ceremony is Oct. 31 at the Championship Dreams tent outside Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The game is the next day.

• The Jacksonville Journey’s “war” on violent crime may have a signature song: Friday morning the theme from the George C. Scott film “Patton” was playing in Hemming Plaza near the front door of City Hall.

• Wells & Drew, a Jacksonville-based engraver and printer which specializes in fine stationery and upscale corporate identity materials, has launched a new Web site. It includes Flash elements, a “quick quote” feature and a “request for sample” button. Wells & Drew produce and store materials for hundreds of law firms, medical practices and other professional firms from all over the country.

• City Council member Stephen Joost has been appointed Sister Cities liaison by Council President Ronnie Fussell. The Sister Cities program is a nonprofit group that urges communities in the United States to construct partnerships with international communities. Jacksonville’s Sister Cities are located in Korea, Russia, China, Argentina, France and South Africa.
