The organization: The Commercial Real Estate Women of Jacksonville promote the advancement of women in the commercial real estate industry by facilitating the exchange of information and ideas, providing a forum for the discussion of issues and providing educational programs.
What she’ll do: “I will oversee and provide leadership to the 2008 board members so that they accomplish the strategic goals set at our board retreat. I will constantly look for ways to improve the organization and be well informed of the trends commercial real estate industry.”
How were you elected/selected? “I became the delegate in 2006 with the understanding that it would provide training at the national level that would help me to take on the leadership of the organization in the future. I was nominated as president-elect in 2007 (which then leads to being president the following year) and approved by the nominating committee. The board reviews all nominations then determine the best candidate for the position based on prior involvement in CREW, years in the industry and leadership skills.”
When are meetings and what happens during them? CREW meets once a month on the first Tuesday of every month from 11:30-1 at the Jacksonville Marriott. “Our calendar is always available at our Web site crewjax.org. Our monthly meetings serve many purposes to enhance members’ knowledge of the commercial real estate industry, to provide personal development and growth in members’ careers and to be a platform for networking deals within our industry. We accomplish this by having a very strong Program Committee that secure our speakers usually one year out and create a balance of the types of programs we do.”

Goals for 2008 as president? “Our goal this year is reinvesting in our industry and community by developing a ‘CREW Legacy’ of an organization that gives back through our philanthropic endeavors and mentoring program with Pace. It lines up with our core purpose which is to advance the success of women in commercial real estate by exposing more young women to the opportunities in our industry.”
How does the organization have an impact on the industry? “Through CREW involvement we create individuals that are more knowledgeable and better prepared to compete in the industry. Through our sharing of ideas, trends and by working together we become the leaders in the industry.”
What does the organization offer members that is unique? “The ability to grow personally and professionally, through not only great programming but also sharing and mentoring by peers in the organization.”
