The organization: The NEFAR Southwest Council functions as a conduit between area members (which includes Realtor and Affiliate members west of the river from Riverside/Ortega to Green Cove) and the main NEFAR office. The council sets up monthly after-hour mixers, annual events such a spring golf tournament (aka Realtor Fun Day), and an annual Christmas Luncheon. Membership in the Council is automatic for NEFAR members who work within the Council area.

His responsibilities: Francis chairs the meetings, sets the agenda, co-coordinates the activities with the various event committees and reviews the current financial status of the SWC.

How he was selected: He was asked to serve by the incoming NEFAR president and was approved by the board of directors and membership.

Meetings and what happens during them: The meetings are at 9 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the NEFAR Southwest Service Center, 550 Wells Rd., Suite 12 in Orange Park. Time or date changes if required are posted on the NEFAR Web site. At the meeting, financial reports and committee reports are reviewed as well as event planning coordination and status reports.

His business: Francis is a full time Realtor and Broker with All Real Estate Options.

His goals as president for 2008: During 2008, the NEFAR SWC will focus on improving participation of local Realtors and Affiliates in all events and programs. “Also, improve Realtor and Affiliate relationships, recruitment of sponsors and recognition of sponsors,” he said.

What does the NEFAR SWC offer its members?: It offers a local and convenient place to take care of most NEFAR related business such as paying dues, buying or returning lock boxes, procuring forms and getting answers. “Involvement in the council is their way to have a say in the direction and growth of their association.”

The organization’s impact on the industry: “By providing members an opportunity to have a better understanding of the services available and the people providing them. It improves their ability to do their job. It also provides an opportunity to new and old associates to gain some experienced insight and hopefully avoid unnecessary mistakes.

“Additionally, by improving Realtor and Affiliate participation in community involvement, it enhances the public’s view and perception of the Real Estate Professionals through programs such as Realtor Ramp-it-up, Paint the Town, Legislative Day and RPAC.”
