Benjamin Franklin (actually actor Dean Bennett) arrived via firetruck at the Main Library Wednesday morning. He was greeted by (to his left) Jacksonville Public Library Deputy Director Carolyn Williams and about 30 children from the Salvation Army Daycare Center. In addition to flying a kite in a thunderstorm therefore discovering electricity and other accomplishments, Franklin is also credited with establishing the first fire department in Phildelphia. His visit to the library was part of “Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World,” a traveling exhibit that will be at the Main Library through July 24.
