• Friday’s Tom Coughlin Jay Fund 4th Annual Wine Tasting Gala in the Modis Building is sold out. According to Keli Coughlin, this is the third sellout in a row and over 800 tickets were bought this year. Coughlin, who coaches the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, will host the event that includes several former Jaguars, some of whom are still playing,
• Culhane’s Irish Pub in Atlantic Beach is planning a weekend-long bash to mark St. Patrick’s Day. Things get underway Friday with an outdoor tent and music. Monday, St. Paddy’s Day, the bar will open at 10 a.m. with music starting at 11. Plenty of green beer, too.
• For the second time in its history, the Sales and Marketing Council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association has been named tops in the nation. The association was presented with the award recently during the International Builders Show in Orlando by The National Sales and Marketing of The National Home Builders Association. The local organization that offers members training programs, networking events and recognition of industry professionals won the award for councils with more than 500 members, beating SMC organizations in Tampa, Raleigh, N.C. and Riverside, Calif.
• There are currently several vacancies on several City boards and commissions. Most only need one or two new members, however the Robert O. Johnson Good Government Award Nominating Committee needs five. Other notables in need of members include Downtown Vision, the Jacksonville Waterways Commission and the Jacksonville Ethics Commission.
• Speaking of appointments, attorney Lane Burnett is up for appointment to the Waterways Commission as is Edward Fleming. Burnett will replace Jim Bailey while Fleming will replace John Lowe.
• A resolution honoring Ch. 12/25 anchor Donna Deegan and Mayo Clinic Dr. Edith Perez is on the City Council agenda. The resolution will recognize the work the two did before and during the inaugural “26.2 With Donna: The National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer.” Others cited in the resolution include author Jeff Galloway, all of Mayo Clinic for being the primary sponsor and the City’s Office of Special Events for their work.
• It’s camping time. The Jacksonville Museum of Science & History is hosting Spring Break camps for children grades kindergarten-fifth grade. The camps take place March 31-April 4, and will have a different theme daily such as Weird Science, Icky Stick Science and Kitchen Science. Camps are from 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Prices for non-MOSH members are $45 a day or $175 for all five days, MOSH members $40 a day or $155 for its entirety.
