The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Jacksonville Bar Association held its 5th Annual “Tee It Up” for charity golf tournament recently to benefit the Family Nurturing Center.

Members of the business and legal community partnered with YLS to help raise over $24,000 for the Family Nurturing Center (FNC), a community-based nonprofit organization in Jacksonville that was formed by volunteers concerned about the safety of children. FNC provides a nurturing environment for families impacted by divorce, custody battles, and domestic violence, and keeps children safe during these difficult times while helping parents foster positive relationships with their children. Providing supervised visitation and exchange services as well as parenting programs, the Family Nurturing Center of Florida has helped over 5,000 families since 1993.

The event was held at the Plantation at Ponte Vedra. The low gross winner of the tournament with a 55 was Team Shorstein & Lee, which included Matt Salane, Kevin Rorabaugh, Sung Lee and Lewis Obi. The low net winner of the tournament with a 51.9 was Team Joy Lordahl, P.A., which included Joy Lordahl, Les Lordahl, Steve Gard and Bruce Maxwell.

The course prize winners included: Troy K. Smith of Rogers Towers (longest drive), Paul Clements (longest drive), Scott Giambruno (closest to the pin) and B.J. Gabriel (longest putt).

The YLS “Tee It Up” tournament also recently won the 2007 Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Outstanding Public Service Project.
