• Addison Commercial has had “For Sale” signs on the Barnett Building and the Laura Trio across the street for several months, but it looks like those signs may be coming down. A developer has signed a contract on both properties. The seller, JDI Realty, foreclosed on the properties which were previously owned by Kuhn Development and partially renovated. According to broker Bob Knight, it’s too early to announce details but the buyer “is local and paying cash.”
• The deadline for Learn to Read’s “Kiss the Pig” contest is Friday at noon. The top vote-getter among JSO Chief David Stevens, FCCJ President Steven Wallace, Tony Rosimini from the Rosimini Financial Group, JFRD Chief Charles Moreland, attorney Roger Dodd and Juan Diaz from BAE Systems will have the honor of kissing a live pig before Sunday’s Jacksonville Suns baseball game at 3 p.m. If you haven’t already cast your votes or would like to vote again ($1 each), you can do so online at www.justgive.org/nonprofits/donate.jsp?ein=23-7153919. As of yesterday, the campaign was about $36,000 short of its $45,000 goal. All proceeds support literacy instruction for adults in the community who cannot read.
• Gov. Charlie Crist has sent six names to the Florida Senate for approval as members of the Florida Inland Navigation District and two appointees are from North Florida. Crist has reappointed Stanley “Norman” Bray of Fernandina Beach and president of the Amelia Island Company. General contractor and real estate property manager John C. Blow of St. Augustine is a new appointment. Both terms end Jan. 9, 2013.
• Sign in a window at The Carling on West Adams Street: “Coming soon - Tonsor full service men’s barber shop.” It’s the space previously occupied by Lucky’s Classic Cuts.
• The Florida Theatre was at maximum entertainment capacity Tuesday. After two Theatreworks shows for 2,000 elementary school students in the morning, the stage crew took down the sets and then loaded in last night’s Ray LaMontagne show.
