City Council Finance Committee Chair Stephen Joost has set the schedule for his committee to begin examining Mayor John Peyton’s proposed 2009-10 budget on a department-by-department basis. Those hearings start next Thursday and continue Aug. 20 and 27.

Joost has also added Sept. 3 and 10 to the schedule to serve as make-up dates for any time overruns or requests by the Finance Committee for a specific department head to come back in front of the committee. A special meeting of the full Council has been called for Sept. 17 to discuss just the budget, which must be approved by Sept. 30.
