Marketing professionals in Jacksonville have a new resource for professional development and networking opportunities. A Jacksonville chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) has been formed to support the nearly 3,000 marketing professionals in the Jacksonville area.

The organization will hold its first-ever networking event Friday at the Burrito Gallery on Adams Street. Lisa Daniel, director of marketing at Diversified Clinical Services, is the new group’s president.

“Our goal is to provide a valuable service for marketing professionals in Jacksonville, including educational programs, networking and a chance to brainstorm challenges and opportunities with like-minded people,” said Daniel. “The marketing profession is constantly changing — with the advent of new technologies and the challenges of today’s economy, we must continually work to build our knowledge and learn from experts in the field as well as our peers and share what we’ve learned.”

The Jacksonville AMA chapter will hold monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of every month. A Web site for the group is currently being constructed.

In addition to Daniel, the chapter’s board includes:

• Chris Boivin, president-elect, is the director of technology on the Insights team of Acosta Sales & Marketing.

• Laurie Petree, vice president of membership, is a sales consultant with StorterChilds Printing, Inc. and Consolidated Graphics.

• Michelle King, vice president of programming, is the director of public relations with Burdette Ketchum.

• Jason Jerris, vice president of Web & interactive media, is a Web and distributed systems developer for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida.

• Alayna Oram, treasurer, is an account director with Burdette Ketchum.
