• The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct a census of the country next year, but planning to make sure everyone is accounted for has begun. Locally, the Census Bureau has asked the City to help count the homeless by providing a list of all “emergency and transitional shelters for people experiencing homelessness, soup kitchens and regularly scheduled mobile food vans.” The Bureau will visit the locales March 29-31 of next year.

• Last month’s dedication of the Don Davis room in the City Council offices was delayed but has been rescheduled for Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. The late Davis was a former Council member and president and State Legislator.

• Speaking of Council, Jacksonville Aviation Authority spokesman Michael Stewart has invited Council members Daniel Davis and Ray Holt to be his guests on the February Airport News Show. The topic is the new airport and seaport committee formed last summer by Council President Ronnie Fussell. Davis and Holt both sit on the committee. The show airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on Comcast Ch. 29.

• The Jacksonville Economic Development Commission will turn the Requests for Proposals for the Master Developer for Cecil Commerce Center over to the Professional Services Evaluation Committee Thursday. After that, PSEC will have 60 days to analyze the RFP before putting on the street for bid.

• The Jacksonville Public Library will present its first Music @ Main concert of 2009 Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hicks Auditorium at the Main Library. A classical trio from Florida State University will be joined by Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra violinist Karen Pommerich. Program selections will include Beethoven’s “Ghost Trio” and Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor. Admission is free as is parking in the garage on Duval Street near the library.

• Theatre Jacksonville, now in its 89th season, has announced auditions for “Wait Until Dark,” a Tony Award-winning play by Frederick Knott. Several parts for men and women and one teenage girl will be cast Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at the playhouse at 2032 San Marco Blvd. Performance dates are March 18-28. • Jax City Scooters on Ocean Street between Bay and Forsyth streets is having a clearance sale. All scooters and accessories will be discounted until the end of the month, when the store will close.
