Seymoine Schmidt has gone from a law firm to a mortgage company, and she - sadly - says that sometimes things don’t change.

“I started in this profession as a mortgage foreclosure processor back in the mid 1990’s with the law firm, Shapiro & Fishman,” she said. “I learned the ins and outs of legal process pertaining to mortgage foreclosures. It was a tough time in the industry and many people were losing their homes.

“Same holds true for today where ‘history has a way of repeating itself.’ This experience allowed me to find within my self the deep compassion I have to help people make their dream of homeownership come true.”

She’s been the residential sales manager and mortgage loan officer for Colonial Bank in St. Augustine for seven and a half years.

Schmidt said that trying to find the bottom of any market is risky and the same holds true for trying to find the bottom on mortgage rates. She said she would encourage anyone who is interested in buying a home or refinancing their current home to contact a loan officer as quickly as possible.

“Mortgage rates are as volatile as the stock market and rates have been changing as often as three times daily,” she said.
