An intake training session for interested attorneys will be held at JALA today from 3-4:30 p.m. Intake training sessions can also be scheduled at law firms.
• The new Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville Beach has proven popular from day one. There have been lines to get in for both lunch and dinner.
• If you live in Atlantic Beach you likely know the stretch of Seminole Road from Atlantic Boulevard to Five Points is being repaved. The job will be done by the end of the week and it’ll cost about $100,000. The funds, according to an Atlantic Beach employee, came from a gas tax the city collects. That portion of the road hasn’t been resurfaced in 15 years.
• State Rep. Jennifer Carroll filed for re-election earlier this month. She represents Dist. 13.
• Following the success of its latest annual study “Our Money, Our City: Financing Jacksonville’s Future,” Jacksonville Community Council Inc. is diving into the issues with a lunchtime conversation July 29 — the day after City Council votes on a maximum millage rate — from noon–1 p.m. The study’s been an integral part of the City’s budget talk and the conversations are a part of the organization’s interaction with the community regarding its findings.
• The City’s Municipal Code Compliance Division — commonly known as the Code Enforcement Department — is closed Friday as workers and office materials are relocated to the fourth floor of the Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex. The office will be resume services Monday at 8 a.m.
