• Interim no more: The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens board of trustees decided to lift the interim tag from Hope McMath’s title and named her director of the museum Tuesday. McMath has served in numerous roles in her six years with the museum including interim director, education director and deputy director of programs. She succeeds Maarten van de Guchte, who served in the post for almost 10 years before resigning in March.
• Scottrade is opening a new branch office Monday at 10601 San Jose Blvd. An online investment firm that provides tools and research to allow individuals to make their own investment decisions, the firm does not provide investment advice, but stock brokers are available at branch offices to answer account-related questions, provide customer service and give tutorials on Scottrade’s online trading services. The office is Scottrade’s 37th in Florida. Other local branch offices are located at 76 S. Laura St. and in Jacksonville Beach at 3652 S. 3rd St.
• Sail Jacksonville is Friday-Sunday on the Northbank of the Downtown riverfront. The maritime festival will highlight the essential roles the St. Johns River and maritime community have played in the history of Jacksonville and will be anchored by the visit of ASTA Tall Ships the Spirit of Massachusetts, the HMS Bounty, the Pride of Baltimore II, the Roseway and schooners Alliance, Voyager and Mistress. The event is free and will feature ship tours, free river cruises, St. Johns Riverkeeper information and activities, fireworks, a pirate battle, nautical education booths and live entertainment at the Landing. • Architect Taylor Hardwick, who designed the Haydon Burns Library and Friendship Fountain, is working with the mayor’s office on the restoration of the fountain. Hardwick pointed out an image of the fountain is used by Grone Plumbing Company of Germany as its symbol for the company’s international advertising.
