• The Duval County Legislative Delegation Organizational Meeting and General Legislative Hearing is Monday at 2 p.m. in City Council Chambers. The Delegation will elect a new chair and vice chair. Following the election, the delegation will hear public testimony on general issues and appropriations.

• Look for Jacksonville-based Firehouse Subs to expand in a major way. The national chain just released plans to expand by 125 restaurants in the Chicago area. In 2000, there were 30 Firehouse locations. After the Chicago additions, there will be 373.

• An annual tradition, the Northeast Florida chapter of the Salvation Army, will kick off its red kettle fundraising campaign Nov. 20 at the Avenues Mall. City Council member Glorious Johnson will be the special keynote speaker for the event, with Ch. 30/47 Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh again serving as the master of ceremonies.

• If you normally park in lots P or R during Jaguar home games, you’ll have to make other arrangements for this Sunday’s game. The lots are being used by the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair.

• It’ll be a first for St. Johns County Nov. 18 when the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida, with the help of The Players, breaks ground on its first clubhouse in the county. PGA Tour golfer Jeff Klauk will be on hand for the 3 p.m. event, which will begin the building of a 15,000-square-foot facility that will officially be called The Players Championship Boys & Girls Club.

• The Naval Ship Museum at the Landing is open for business if you really want to buy something, but the formal opening — complete with a reception — is Saturday at 6:30. The store is packed with hats, clothing, replicas, a big-screen TV and plenty of other Navy-related stuff. It’s where the Landing Bookstore used to be.

• Speaking of the Landing, Sundrez is now selling Florida-Georgia T-shirts for $5. They were $8 the other day.

• The 5 Points Theatre is having its first Ladies Night Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. On screen will be a sneak preview of the movie “Coco Before Chanel” as a benefit for Hubbard House. • The Next Gallery proprietress Sharla Valeski was talking about her “fantastic first month” at Wednesday’s Art Walk. She sold five paintings since the October Art Walk, the day the gallery on Laura Street opened. “That’s great in this market,” said Valeski. She also just returned from the Atlanta Merchandise Mart where she found some exclusive lines of perfumes, soaps and artistic gift items that will soon be for sale at the gallery.

• The November edition of Jacksonville Community Council Inc.’s “Issues and Answers” is looking into homelessness and how its evolved. The discussion, “The Changing Face of Homelessness,” Nov. 14 will be led by Audrey Moran, president and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center, and attorney Bill Scheu, Sulzbacher board of directors secretary, at the JCCI headquarters from noon–1 p.m. Seating is limited, call 396-3052.
