• Jacksonville Area Legal Aid will mark the one-year anniversary of Project House-Hold Tuesday with an event from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The foreclosure prevention and counseling center is on Winton Drive and is manned by JALA attorneys James Millard and Allison Albert.

• The venue has been finalized for The Republican Party of Duval County’s “Lincoln Day Celebration.” The event is at the Hyatt Nov. 9 and it will feature an evening with former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. • The Community Foundation will move into its new offices on Riverside Avenue next month. They’ll be in the St. Joe Building next to the YMCA.
• Tuesday night, the Duval County School Board voted to approve an application from KIPP Jacksonville to open a charter school for the 2010-11 school year. According to KIPP Executive Director Tom Majdanics, the school will be on McDuff Avenue and the first KIPP school in the state.
• The Jacksonville Light Parade is set for Nov. 28 and the Hyatt has a good deal. For either $5 or a new, unwrapped toy you can sit on the River Deck and watch the parade of boats.

• The Wine Cellar on the Southbank recently celebrated its 30th anniversary by opening its new lounge Mingle.
• NASCAR legend Richard Petty will serve as chair of next year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance set for March 12-14. Petty is a seven-time NASCAR champion and won 200 races.
• There are a handful of new stores at the St. Augustine Outlet mall: Dooney & Bourke, Escada, Talbots, Journeys, Body Central, Red Brick Pizza and Hershey’s Ice Cream.

• Teams from the latest athletic program at Jacksonville University will be practicing the art of the pass at the Riverside Arts Market on Saturday. JU lacrosse teams will hold demonstrations at the market under the Fuller Warren Bridge on Riverside Avenue. Men’s and women’s programs were created April 24, 2008. The market is open from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
