The Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida will recognize a valuable member of its organization and the community during a ceremony at Florida Coastal School of Law (FCSL).

Duval County Court Judge Roberto Arias joined the bench in 1995 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1980. The Hispanic Bar will recognize his over 30 years of service to the court and the community in the atrium of FCSL at 6 p.m. April 15.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by such a great organization,” said Arias.

His service to the community stretches beyond his work in the courtroom. Arias recently taught a JALACARE (Credit Abuse Resistance Education) class to seniors at Terry Parker High School and he has been active with the Hispanic American Business Association, Hubbard House, Lutheran Social Services and served as a mentor at Justina Road Elementary School.

The Hispanic Bar will follow the ceremony with an event it will co-sponsor with the Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association, a happy hour for Cinco De Mayo. The location has yet to be determined.

The March 30 meeting was the last regular meeting of the term for the Hispanic Bar. The next meeting will be held in August to elect the next executive board.
