No, she isn’t related to former Jaguars football coach Tom Coughlin. “I married into the name,” says Kim Coughlin. “Maybe there’s a connection somewhere in that family tree, but not mine.”
That said - and that’s the first question most people ask - the East-West Realty agent says that all is well except, perhaps for her golf game.
“I live at Eagle Harbor and work at Eagle Landing, so I’m around two very pretty courses,” she said. “I’m not very good at the game, I guess.”
But she’s very good at real estate and says it’s what she’s selling.
“We’ve done very well at Eagle Landing and business has stayed pretty good,” she said. “The winter weather hit everyone hard but that just means that people were waiting for a change. It has been a long winter for everyone.”
She’s seeing a lot of relocation business, especially military, and the continuing growth at Cecil Commerce Center is bringing business throughout the OakLeaf Plantation area.
“I came here for this kind of lifestyle,” she said. ‘These are the places I want to sell because I want to live there.”
She arrived here 19 years ago from Orlando, where the traffic finally wore her down. She had her own business there and also was a Realtor, but life was too hectic.
“My brother is a Jacksonville orthodonist and he told me to try this area,” she said. “‘Come and see,’ he said.”
It didn’t take long for her to settle in. Her two teenage daughters are in Fleming Island schools and she’s happy with her job.
“I’ll stay here until it’s time to retire, “ said Coughlin. “I’ve had a good profession.”
