• Anne Buzby-Walt has joined Fisher, Tousey, Leas & Ball as a shareholder. Her practice focuses in the areas of wills, trusts and the administration of estates, asset protection planning and general tax matters.

• Investigator David Douglas, who serves the Public Defender’s Office in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, was named “Investigator of the Year” by the Florida Public Defender Association. A native of Jacksonville, Douglas has nearly 30 years of experience in the local criminal justice system. He has served under Public Defender Matt Shirk in the Jacksonville office since January 2009.

• LISC Jacksonville and LISC’s National Equity Fund arranged for $4 million of New Market Tax Credits to help fund the start up of the Jacksonville KIPP School. The KIPP Impact Middle School will open at 1440 McDuff Avenue N.

• Attorney Bill Sheppard will soon complete filming of a documentary about Senior U.S. District Judge Henry Lee Adams. “He was Jacksonville’s first black circuit court judge and the first black federal judge for the Middle District of Florida,” said Sheppard, who partnered with Adams when he was in private practice. “He is truly a piece of history and his story needs to be preserved.” Sheppard is currently looking for a venue to premiere the film.
