• After the final vote on Tuesday night’s EverBank/Jaguars deal, Council member Jack Webb made an inadvertent proclamation. He said the Council’s actions effectively renamed the stadium EverGreen - not EverBank - Field. It was quickly corrected and drew several laughs.

• Also at Council: A resolution that would have reappointed Peter Sleiman as a member of the Jacksonville Police & Fire Pension Fund board of trustees was referred to the Rules Committee after several Council members said they wanted to go through some details. ... An ordinance that would have prohibited a candidate for president-designate from running for vice-president designate failed 3-13.

• The capacity of City Council’s incoming e-mail was tested Tuesday as Council prepared to vote on the naming rights agreement for EverBank Field. President Jack Webb received about 300 e-mails, with a majority referencing the deal and urging a “yes” vote - and using the same sentence: “I’m writing to voice my support for the EverBank naming rights agreement #2010-644 and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Please vote YES and help the Jaguars secure their stadium naming rights.”

• Gov. Charlie Crist named four Jacksonville residents Tuesday to state panels: UNF President John Delaney to the Florida Statewide Passenger Rail Commission; Deno Hicks, managing partner at Southern Strategy Group, to the Florida Greenways and Trails Council; Dr. Jeffrey Bubis, a physician with Integrated Community Oncology Network, to the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council; and Jeenu Phiip, a pharmacist supervisor with Walgreens, to the state Practitioners Prescribing Patterns Advisory Panel. The appointments were effective Tuesday.

• Crist also launched a website Tuesday to assist rural communities with developing businesses and creating jobs. The site is www.florida-redi.com. Counties identified as “rural” for the program include Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and Union.

• Jacksonville University will celebrate the opening of its new grand entrance Tuesday, built with a gift from board of trustees member Jack Keigwin and his wife, Beverly. Keigwin is CEO at Sound Point Asset Management in Amelia Island.

• Jewish Family & Community Services elected its 2010-11 board of directors and appointed a new development director. Officers are President Howard Caplan; First Vice President Francine Kempner; Vice Presidents Anne Lufrano and Jill Metlin; Treasurer Glenn Ullmann; Secretary Elle Rosner; and Chair Isa Tanenbaum. Iris Young is executive director. Heather Corey, formerly with Learn to Read and the American Cancer Society, joined as Director of Development and Marketing.
