Chambers, the current Northeast Florida Builders Association president, opened his company in March after 16 years at Engle Homes.

“I got my first job as a on-site builder in 1992 after graduating from University of Central Florida with an operational engineering degree,” said Chambers. “I was everything from a superintendent and project manager to production manager and I was division president for the past six years.”

Chambers said his past experience has helped him with understanding the market conditions, financing, marketing and sales.

“Sales are out there happening,” said Chambers. “There is no good time or bad time to open a company. When times were good, people thought they could go out there and do this for myself and people are also doing it now.

“I always said there would be a situation that forced your hand and this is the situation.”

MasterCraft Builder Group does everything from remodeling to infill speculation homes to building semi-custom homes. Price range of his homes is from $150,000 to $650,000.

“I want to be known as a builder that uses unique cost effective ways of building,” said Chambers. “Quality meets innovation.”

Chambers believes the trend of new smaller builders is all about timing.

“Most of it is timing for people like me who had a forced hand I think there are others who do not have or need that forced hand, but see the opportunity,” said Chambers.
