It’s been a good summer for JEA Forester Jim Robinson. He was honored with the Florida Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture’s “Edward W. Bok Award” and the ISA’s “True Professionals of Arboriculture Award” in June and July, respectively.

“Those who know me know that I won’t hesitate to talk trees,” said Robinson, who has worked for JEA about 30 years. “Back when I started, forester was a contract position. It was unheard of for a utility company to have an arborist on staff.”

The Bok award is given in recognition of career-long distinguished service and dedication to the advancement of arboriculture.

Robinson was also one of five people chosen by the ISA for its “True Professionals of Arboriculture Award.” It recognizes those individuals from around the world who demonstrate outstanding public education practices regarding arboriculture and the benefits of trees.

Robinson was recognized for working with municipal leaders to develop a plan to care for trees near utility and electrical lines, a plan that has become a model across the United States.

More than 45 nominations were submitted for the award.
