The Gator Bowl Association and the GrayRobinson law firm plan “Breakfast at Tiffany” this morning at the jeweler’s new St. Johns Town Center store.

Tiffany & Co. has been a corporate sponsor of the Gator Bowl Association since 2005, when the association commissioned Tiffany to redesign the Gator Bowl Champions Trophy.

The trophy was redesigned and renamed the “Verlander Gator Bowl Champions Trophy.” The name honors W. Ashley Verlander, who was chair of the Gator Bowl Association in 1964.

The trophy will be showcased at the store today through Dec. 31. The Gator Bowl game is Jan. 1.

“A year ago at this time, Rick (Catlett) was talking about his excitement in trying to get Bobby Bowden to coach his last game at the Gator Bowl during his speech at our Community Leader Forum,” said Ken Jacobs, managing partner of GrayRobinson’s Jacksonville office.

“This is our second year supporting the Gator Bowl. Rick’s appearance as well as the media coverage of the event demonstrated to us how important the Gator Bowl is to our community, both from a standpoint of the tremendous economic impact the game has and the visibility the game brings to Jacksonville.”

On Dec. 5, the Gator Bowl selected Mississippi State University and the University of Michigan to play in the New Year’s Day game.

The association is negotiating for a title sponsor to join its list of 94 sponsors. Konica Minolta was the title sponsor from 2007-2010.
